Scam Alert – Christmas Scams
'Tis the season for giving, but unfortunately it's also a time in which fraudsters take advantage of consumers. It's no secret we all make more transactions this time of year than any other season, whether it be for shopping or donating.
One of the biggest scams hitting right now is fake delivery notifications to your email from FedEx, UPS or the U.S. Postal service.
Clicking on the notification can take you to a fake, lookalike website. Once all of your information is in, the scammers can take over your phone or computer and steal your identity. Do your homework. If you receive an email notification from any company, double-check the sender's address. If it looks fishy, don't get hooked! Visit the site directly (instead of clicking the link) for more information on the notification and what additional steps you may need to take.
Don’t let these scams put a damper on your Christmas. However, do be aware of their existence and be smart as you browse the web this holiday season. Being scammed is the fastest way to lose all of your holiday cheer and we wouldn’t want that to happen!
